Have questions? Here are the answers to the frequently asked questions about the VT Lemon Law.

Read the Vermont Lemon Law Statute

Kimmel and Silverman uses the Vermont Lemon Law and various Federal warranty statutes to provide 100% cost-free legal help to distressed drivers throughout the state.

The Vermont Lemon Law applies to new cars, vans, or trucks (under 12,000 lbs) sold, leased or registered in Vermont, that suffer a nonconformity; a defect or condition that cannot be repaired after three attempts by an authorized manufacturer's dealership. This defect must substantially impair the vehicle's use, value or safety, and must first occur within the warranty period. The VT Lemon Law also applies to vehicles that are in the shop for repair thirty (30) or more calendar days during the first year.

It's important to note that even if your car falls outside of the limitations established by the Lemon Law, there are still Federal breach of warranty laws which apply. If your car has an original or extended manufacturer's warranty and has a problem that can't be fixed after three repair attempts, chances are we can help you.

The Vermont Lemon Law can be confusing and is open up to numerous interpretations if you don't understand how it works. If you are driving a defective vehicle and you want to find out if you are entitled to cost-free legal help, feel free to submit a question online, or fill out our Get Rid Of Your Lemon worksheet for a free case evaluation.

**The overwhelming majority of New England claims resolve through our pre-litigation program without any cost or fee to clients. Cases that do not resolve at that stage are fully investigated, vehicles inspected and then go forward by conventional means to be filed in Court, all without fees charged to the client. In some cases however, the client may qualify for an expedited program with a speedier resolution to the claim, but one that may carry certain costs and attorney fees. Before choosing an expedited program, check with our lawyers to see if your vehicle qualifies and/or whether it is something you should consider. Some people prefer one over the other.
