For the second time in less than two months, 2013 Ford Escape drivers are dealing with a recall pertaining to their vehicles, and this is the second Ford Escape recall for a fire risk.

According to Edmunds Inside Line, Ford is recalling more than 6,000 Ford Escape SUVs equipped with the 1.6 liter engine, because there is a chance that the cylinder head cup plug could be discharged, resulting in a significant coolant leak. If leaking coolant evaporates on a hot engine, it could cause an engine compartment fire.

The vehicles affected were built at Ford’s Louisville, Kentucky assembly plant from October 5, 2011 through August 31, 2012.

Ford did say they plan to address this matter immediately. For more information, you can contact Ford at (866) 436-7332. Previously, Ford Escapes were recalled for a condition that could result in an immediate fuel leak.
