Chrysler 200 Stalling Problem — Lemon Law Defect Alert

October 25, 2012 By: LemonLaw Category: Car Lemon Law, Check Engine Light, Chrysler

Is your Chrysler 200 stalling?  You are not alone.  We are seeing many issues regarding Chrysler 200 vehicles stalling on highways and has listed the 2011 Chrysler 200 engine problem as “pretty bad.”

Chrysler 200 drivers on the website complain of the engine shutting down with no notice, along with the check engine light coming on, and the electrical system (navigation system and radio) shutting down.  People are having to literally put their car in park and restart their ignition in the middle of the road to get the car moving again.  And what’s even more upsetting is that Chrysler service advisers are not always able to locate and diagnose the problem being that it is intermittent.

If you suspect that your Chrysler 200 is losing power, or your car is shutting down, it is essential that you get your vehicle to a Chrysler authorized dealer as soon as possible to have the matter addressed.  Be as specific as possible in terms of when the car stalled and how fast you were going.  Tell the adviser how you were able to restart the car  and whether you experienced a loss of power following the restart or if the car was riding differently.  And make sure that you ALWAYS receive a repair invoice when picking up the car which illustrates the date in, date out, mileage, the complaint and the fix.

If your Chrysler 200 stalling problem continues, you need to speak with a Lemon Law lawyer about your rights.  The Lemon Laws in certain states, including New Jersey and Ohio, only give manufacturers one chance to fix a problem which could cause death or serious bodily harm.  We have successfully resolved Lemon Law claims based on this one-time rule.

This is a not a problem that should be taken lightly.  If you have any questions regarding your Chrysler 200 stalling, feel free to call us at 1 -800 LEMON LAW. We will be glad to discuss your situation with you and put you in touch with someone who can help.

My 2011 Chrysler 200 started having stalling issues right after I purchased the lifetime extended warranty at 46,000 miles. First off, the Chrysler dealership replaced the fuel tank stating that over filling was causing the issue. The next week, the car stalled again, with the check engine light on. They checked and it was a misfire diagnosis, but they could not replicate the issue. The car just stalled again today, and was lurching forward so bad that I had to pull out of traffic; the check engine light was blinking, and the chime was ringing, and of course both went away as I drove it to the dealership for the third time in as many months.

2013 Chrysler 200. 17000 miles. Stalled (completely died) twice Sunday night. Dealer can’t find cause. I feel it is unsafe to drive even if dealer says it is fixed. Wife commutes thru heavy traffic in Minneapolis area

I have a 2012 Chrysler 200 s series just under 43k miles.I was driving it down the road and it stalled in an intersection. Thank god there wasn’t a accident.Chrysler needs to take control of this situation before they have a major lawsuit on their hands. My wife is 5 months pregnant and it stalled on her going down the road when raining and no accident then either. If she gets into an accident and gets hurt while pregnant Chrysler is going to have a big problem!!!!!!

Hi! purchased a 2013 Chrysler in Dec of 2012. everything was all fine and dandy until it stalled on me for the first time in July 2016 (driving past intersection, tachometer went to 0, brakes locked, steering wheel locked), towed the car home that night. I was leaving to Vegas the following weekend so I took my car in and no codes showed up so they sent me home. months later, in September, my car stalled on a Sunday, same situation, and I took the car in the next day. they had my car the whole week and a half and fixed a cylinder in my engine and an almost blown head gasket. that following sunday my car stalls again while parked this time. I couldn’t start it but I had droven it 15 minutes prior. Tuesday I took it to the shop and no codes appeared so they sent me home, again. the following Friday, my car stalls in the middle of the freeway, I get it towed and now my car is in the shop for I don’t know how long! im currently looking at Hondas.

my 2016 Chrysler 200 has been shutting off and I have been able to restart it until today, it won’t turn back on. I had it towed to a dealership and they say my warranty won’t cover it because I have 62000 miles, and warranty expires at 60000 miles. the thing is I had the same problem last year and I took it to the dealership before my warranty was up and i thought it was fixed but it started happening again this week and now it just won’t turn on. I don’t know what to do

I have a 2012 Chrysler 200, my car has stalled several times in the last two days. This had happened a few years ago and i took it to the dealer, in which they said they had to do some type of patch on it. Well it is doing it once again and is very dangerous for my son to drive.

I had an accident in my Chrysler 200 2015 in December 2017 and the Insurance said it was fixable even though we all thought it was not. Eventually, after receiving the vehicle back it has been stalling and shutting off in the middle of the road which I think is life threatening. I took it back to the repair shop 5-6 times so far and just got a message from the repair shop saying since they can’t locate the problem I will have to figure it out with the insurance company. It’s dragging on and I can’t risk my life on the road when it’s the only car I have. Please assist.

I have a 2011 Chrysler 200 and it’s been shutting off on me with no warning! I think this is very dangerous! It’s my only transportation to get my grandson to school and myself to work! I don’t have money to even attempt to see what’s even wrong with it! I don’t know what to do!
What can I do about this!? Does anyone know if Chrysler will pay to get you out of your car and into a new one? I think it would be alot cheaper than being sued if the car shuts off and causes a bad accident!
                              Someone help please!!

My sister has the Chrysler 200 and it shuts off while driving which leaves the steering wheel stiff and hard to turn. It happens maybe 2,3 times a week. The dealership told her it’s an oil change reminder. I’m not an idiot nor some kind of mechanic why would a manufacturer set the vehicle to turn off at all. She still has 25% oil life left as we speak. This is unacceptable and it puts her life in danger. I will speak to the dealership and contact Chrysler directly and get this issue resolved. If not I will file legal action. They know about the problem and do not accept responsibility.

My best friend owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. It has 76000 miles on it, in the last three days it’s shut off on its own while driving three different times. Multiple tows and trips to the mechanic has come to no solution to the problem, nobody can find out why it happens. It’s really getting expensive and just frightening for her and I wanted to see if there’s anything that can be done. She’s terrified to drive the car she spent so much money on and it just doesn’t seem right that Chrysler won’t do anything about it. Anything we can do?

Issue started a month ago and is still not fixed. Cleaned throttle body, and when that didn’t resolve the issue they replaced throttle body. Car still stalls at random times, both while moving and waiting at lights. Almost been in several accidents. All loss of power steering and control of the car. Last week the engine started shaking as soon as I turned the car on. I tried to restart the car, it would not start, and instead rolled backwards into the street. Luckily there was enough room for cars to go around me. Eventually I was able to start the car long enough to get it out of the street.
