Subaru Forester Transmission Problems Pop Up On Message Boards

Often times, when folks call into the 1-800 LEMON LAW hotline, we research their issues on assorted message boards to find out if their issue is isolated, or if it has affected a variety of drivers.

We have seen a few calls come into our office recently regarding Subaru Forester transmission problems, particularly jerking when shifting, sluggish acceleration and rough starts.  Some of the consumers we have spoken to have been told by their service advisers that this is a normal characteristic of the Forester.  We beg to differ. In fact, we did find an Edmunds board discussing the Subaru Forester transmission issue, and it seems this problem may be a little more common than originally thought.

If you are experiencing Subaru Forester transmission problems, it is essential that you take your vehicle to a Subaru authorized dealership at your earliest opportunity.  Explain the issue to your service adviser and offer to take him on a test drive.  Make sure you receive a repair invoice for every visit which outlines that you have brought this matter to their attention and what was done to address the issue.  If you cannot get any satisfaction at one Subaru dealer, your warranty allows you take the car to any Subaru authorized dealership.  Even if the dealer cannot diagnose the problem, or claims it is within manufacturer specifications, it is essential that you obtain a repair invoice for every visit.

Once you are in three times for the same issue, it is time to look into your State and Federal rights.  Please give us a call at 1 800 LEMON LAW to further discuss the matter or fill out our Get Rid of Your Lemon form.  We will be glad to review your situation and the steps that can be done to get you back on the road to recovery.

After driving 60 miles on the freeway my transmission seems to slip a lot in town.
