Suffering with a Volvo XC90 backup camera problem? You are not alone, but if you have been back to the dealer several times riled up about your rearview camera, you need to know your rights.

Message boards are lighting up with Volvo XC90 drivers who are complaining about their rear cameras freezing and going blank when their cars are in reverse. Nothing will appear on the navigation screen or the screen will freeze, eliminating the ability to use the camera to ensure nothing is behind the vehicle as the driver backs up. This is a very useful safety feature drivers become accustomed to, especially with such a large vehicle. And sadly, many of the software updates being performed by Volvo dealers in an attempt to fix the issue have not been successful.

If you are dealing with a Volvo XC90 backup camera problem and you are still under a manufacturers warranty, it is essential that you get to a Volvo authorized dealer as soon as possible to report the problem and seek a fix. When your vehicle is fixed, make sure you receive a detailed repair invoice with mileage in, mileage out, days of our service, an outline of the problem and the solution. These invoices should be kept in a file or safe place.

If you find that you are repeatedly back to an authorized Volvo dealer for the Volvo XC90 backup camera problem, you need to look into your rights under State Lemon Laws and the Federal Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. You could be looking at significant compensation to reflect the diminished value of the Volvo as a result of the problem, even if the issue is eventually fixed. This recovery would not impact the trade in or resale value of the vehicle; the vehicle would not be branded in any way; and all warranties remain firmly and fully in effect. Best of all the legal representation is completely free with Volvo paying all attorney fees and legal costs in addition to the recovery. If for some reason, the client does not prevail, there is no cost.

I have had many issues with my 2016 Volvo xc90 (27k miles) since we purchased it brand new including the back up camera. It went into the shop twice for that and many other reasons. Please contact me for more info. Thank you

While using park assist and parrell parking, car hit a mailbox but did not warn me of the obstacle. Also, the obstacle did not show up on the backup camera. I think there is a flaw in the camera design resulting in the malfunction and deceptive view of the my camera.
