Transmission Problems Abound for Nissan, Jeep, and Ford

As the years change, and the seasons switch over, there is still one common constant–transmission problems with numerous vehicles. Most notably, we continue to get calls on the 1 800 LEMON LAW hotline almost every day regarding the Nissan Pathfinder, the Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, and of course the Ford Focus and Fiesta.

Many drivers are so used to the surging, shuddering, jumping, and lunging that they have stopped taking their cars in for service. This is a huge mistake. In order to illustrate the car has problems which impair it’s use, value, and safety, distressed drivers must continue to bring the matter to an authorized manufacturers dealership. Even if the service adviser says there is no fix, make sure you retrieve an invoice after every visit which outlines date, mileage, and concern. As we previously worte in our last blog post, these invoices are essential to the success of a Lemon Law or Breach of Warranty claim.

If you are unhappy with the service you are receiving at one dealership, take the car to another authorized manufacturers dealer. You are certainly allowed to do this under any original, extended or powertrain manufacturers warranty. If the adviser tells you he cannot duplicate the transmission problem, offer to take him on a test drive and show him when and how you are experiencing the issue. The more information you provide, the more likely they will perform a repair. And if they say a part is back order, make sure you get that in writing and continue to follow up with them until the part is in stock.
