2010 Chrysler Town & Country Shutting Down? You’re Not Alone.

June 01, 2011 By: LemonLaw Category: Chrysler, Defective Car, stalling 11 Comments →

An important defect alert to report–we are receiving calls from Chrysler Town & Country drivers who are left stranded with a problem that mechanics cannot seem to diagnose.  Most of these calls are coming from folks who own 2010 models.  The driver will experience  a slight click and then, the entire van will shut down with no warning.  A quick search on the internet reveals that this is a serious concern among drivers.

Sadly, this is an intermittent problem which means service advisers may not be able to duplicate the situation.  Offer to go on a test drive with your service adviser so they can get an understanding of what is happening.  Even if they cannot duplicate the problem, make sure that you receive a repair invoice that outlines the mileage and the complaint.  Also inquire about an auto pilot, which would record the codes if and when the car stalls in the future.  These codes enable the service department to figure out a proper fix.  Lastly, when you are in this situation, use your phone to take a quick snapshot of the dash immediately after you restart the vehicle.  Save these pictures as they can be helpful.

Once you are in three times for this problem, please contact us at 1-800 LEMON  LAW (1-800-536-6652) or send us an e-mail.  We will be glad to discuss the situation with you and figure out if and how we can help. This is a serious problem that should not be taken lightly.

A Letter From A Former NJ Lemon Owner

September 03, 2010 By: LemonLaw Category: Bob Silverman, Chrysler, convertible, New Jersey Lemon Law 3 Comments →

We love when the mail brings us thank you cards and this one was especially special. When Mr. & Mrs. V contacted us regarding their 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible and problems with their top staying shut, they were getting ready to file a claim with the New Jersey Attorney General’s office.  They were scared, and rightfully so, knowing that if they lost, the decision was binding and they would have lost all of their rights.  They opted to drop that case and let lemon law lawyer Bob Silverman represent them completely free under the fee-shifting provisions of the New Jersey Lemon Law.  They received a FULL REPURCHASE, including taxes, tags, finance charges, and down payment.

They wrote the following:

Dear Mr. Silverman:

Our heartfelt thanks to you and your staff for taking on our case with Chrysler.

After almost 6 months of being abused by them, it was truly a Godsend that we contacted you and you immediately took charge with professionalism and compassion.  It it wasn’t for you, we probably would have been eaten alive and lost everything, instead of getting our settlement which was justly due to us.

If anyone is stuck with “a lemon” as we were, they would be a fool not to cotnact you.

Again from the bottom of our hearts, thank you, thank you, thank you.

With sincerest gratitude,

Mr. & Mrs. Charles V.

For almost 20 years, Kimmel and Silverman has been helping distressed drivers and our representation is completely cost-free.  If you have a lemon law question, please do not hesitate to call us at 1-800 LEMON LAW (1-800-536-6652), fill out our Get Rid of Your Lemon form, or send us a note.

Defects On The Radar: Jeep, Saturn, Buick, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, BMW, Volkswagen, Honda, Toyota

September 25, 2009 By: LemonLaw Category: Acadia, Accord, bmw, buick, Chrysler, convertible, Ford, ford f-truck, General Motors, GM, jeep, lexus, Toyota, transmission, volkswagen, VW, water leak No Comments →

As you can expect, of the hundreds of calls and e-mails we receive each week at 1-800 LEMON LAW headquarters, we frequently see the same thing happening to consumers over and over throughout a variety of States.  Here are some defects we are seeing regularly among our clients.  (Keep in mind we are not saying everyone who purchases these cars will have these problems; we are just seeing a trend among our cases.)

Jeep Patriots continue to have massive water leak problems, as do GMC Acadias, Buick Enclaves and Saturn Outlooks.

Ford F-Trucks have diesel problems, resulting in check engine lights, black smoke and stalling among other issues.

BMW models ending in 35 seems to be suffering from fuel pump failure.

Have a Volkswagen EOS?  Having a problem getting the top up and down?  You are not alone. More and more VW claims are coming in with this issue.

Squeak, squeak, squeak go the brakes on Honda Accords.

We are seeing a lot of alignment issues with Toyota Camry and Lexus models.

In most Chryslers, especially the Town and Country and 300 models, we are seeing transmission shuttering.

Finally, the Dodge Grand Caravan sliding doors are causing massive headaches for many of our clients.

Kimmel & Silverman prides itself on having three full-time ASE certified mechanics who work on our clients’ behalf to review and research automotive defects.  If you are having a continuing problem with your car, chances are we have heard about it.  Feel free to contact us through our website or by calling 1-800 LEMON LAW (1-800-536-6652).

Blowing Your Top Over Your Convertible?

July 28, 2009 By: LemonLaw Category: bmw, Car Lemon Law, Chrysler, convertible, volvo, VW No Comments →

This Summer, the 1-800 LEMON LAW phone lines are abuzz with folks who are suffering with faulty convertible tops, most notably with the new hard top models — the Chrysler Sebring, the BMW 335,  the Volvo C70 and the Volkswagen EOS.  If you are suffering with continuous problems with your convertible top, please know that the defect does represent a significant non-conformity that affects the use, value and safety of the vehicle, and State Lemon Laws and Federal Warranty Laws are here to protect you.  It is especially important that you pick up a warranty repair invoice each time you take your car in for service.  These invoices specifically identify the problem the consumer is complaining of, the amount of the days that the car was in service, a detailed explanation on how the problem was fixed, and a list of all the components replaced in the vehicle.

We have noticed that there are certain potential convertible clients who are NOT receiving repair tickets each time they bring their car in, either because they are told a repair ticket is open or the part is on back order (particularly frustrating during the season you use the convertible the most.)  Try not to take that for an answer and firmly request proof of your repair visit.  If you get nowhere, start a log with the the date, mileage and details of each visit.  This information will help a great deal when it comes time to file a claim.

If you have any questions about your convertible, fell free to drop us a line or call us at 1-800 LEMON LAW (1-800-536-6652).
